Default Turbosmart wastegate only boosting to 5psi instead of 7 ?

I installed my Revhard Stage 2 kit with the Turbosmart wastegate. My boost maxes out at 5 or 5.5 psi, but the wastegate is supposed to have a 7lb spring. Why isn't it boosting all the way? Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Either a boost leak somewhere,
or an exhaust leak between the manifold/turbo or manifold/wastegate.

Leaks around the manifold are easy to spot, you'll notice carbon buildup around
the leaky spot. Chargepipe leaks are not so easy, but just check that everything
is tight.

im using the turbonetic delta wastegate and i have the same problem with th 7psi spring. mine leaks for sure, but it doent matter because all i really want is 5psi. sometimes it will go up to 7psi on op end, try freeing up the exhaust.

Where is the wastegate hooked up to? The compressor housing?

If you have the wastegate hooked to the compressor housing, and the boost gauge at the intake manifold, you are reading about 2 PSI total pressure drop for your intake tract including the intercooler.

FYI.

Alright thanks, so if my boost gauge reads 7psi now I really have 9? Don't I want the readings at the intake manifold because that is what the engine is getting? I don't wanna blow my engine.

if your boost gauge is tapped into the intake manifold you are running that exact amount of boost. you better be careful, because if the wastegate thinks its six at 6 lbs but the intake manifold is getting a higher number, you are in danger of a spike. whick means the leak is in your wastegate or whatever you have the wastegate tapped into. I have heard of alot of people blowing up because of a stupid leak.

Hey what does the spike do? I got a MBC, does that matter? I am running about 7psi at my intake manifold.
