Default Should I replace the fuel filter?

1999 Civic, about 65K on the clock. Never had the fuel filter replaced. Should I bother changing it?

Sure.

It's easy enough, and since you thought about it, you might as well.

If you do decided to change your fuel filter then make sure its OEM Honda and not some cheap crap from the local auto store. Remember that Honda makes the best parts for its cars and that 3rd party manufacters are just in the market to make money so their parts are crappier, thus the cheaper price as well.

Or you can buy FRAM who produces many of the oem filters that the dealers mark up 300%

true, many car companies use other companies (fram for example) to make their prodects. another example is when i worked at autozone on the top of egr valves i would pull back the sticker and it would say ford on it or whatever car company that it was for. so many parts are not actually oem as you think.

do you think honda really makes their own filters and fluids for their cars? no they just pay a company to box them differently.

i thought you never had to change your fuel filter unless it got clogged....
or had a defect?
arent they made to last the life of the car?

i would just replace it since it only cost about $20 for an OEM filter.

True about Honda using other companies to manufacture products but it's usually to their own specification not the companies, that way Honda might as well have made it. Honda Engine Oil's a good example, its not made by Honda but is made to their specifications which is why its best suited to VTEC engines, same with Honda MTF...

my old fuel filter was clogged, causing me to run lean. I replaced it and everything was fixed.
