Default :Noob: Help me choose the right engine..

This is my first post on HT so be gentle..(Love the site by the way!!!!)
Just crossed over from J-body.org

Anyway, here is my dillemma(sp). I want to swap an engine into my Eg civic.
1. I am NOT very engine or mechanically inclined, but learning slowly.
2. I live in Ohio, so almost no place around knows a thing or two about swapping in Honda/Acura engines.
3. I am basically drag oriented.
4. I am leaning towards the C5 engine, due to being N/A and very reliable and putting out very high numbers. My other choice would be the C1+Turbo. This is a problem due to the lack of tuning and install in this area.
5. Limited income will hurt my ability to mod to car extensively, this should include internals. So basic bolt-on's and engine management would be the extent of the mods (unless the engine goes BOOM!)
6. This car will be my daily driver, but winter stored.
7. Looking to be into the 12's on basic mods and drag radials. (car will be stripped)

I would appreciate not getting the noobie treatment, as i've been reading on here for a while and don't think my situation can be found under SEARCH. I know you guys will be able to help me. Thanks in advance...

Glad to be wth the crew!

If you want 12s n/a with a strong build up..the h22 will do perfectly. Place Racing and Hasport have mount kits that allow drop in installation of a 22 in an Eg. I ahve seen an Eg with mildly built h22 run mid 13s....so good luck, get an h22 and win some races.

if you really want to hit 12's. id say go with a c1 turbo.

in a gutted hatch with a c1 @7-10 psi should be able to get you into the low 13 to high 12 range without much problem.

it will be extremely hard to hit 12's all motor without internal work and slicks.

Thanks for the help so far, I appreciate it. So i guess a c5 is kind of out of the question...With the H22, is it possible to hit 12s with basic bolt ons+Vtec tuning?

Also, are there any places in NE Ohio that would be good for swapping and/or tuning? I'm not sure there is any place around here i could have an engine shipped to and they'd be competant to put it in????

It is possible to hit 12s (I mean high 12s) with either motor. I would do whatever engine that you want (they are about the same). The thing that I would learn how to do is drive the car. That is where you will pick most of your time (ET) up at.
