Can someone explain to me why is my engine going crazy. It seems like it's getting gas by itself, an it keeps revving by it's self like it's going to blow up. I need to get some ideas so i can drive again. It's a 88 civic hb dx.

 

how high are the RPM's reaching? Many people have this idle surging problem, there are so many causes to it - no one will be able to diagnose it for you. Someone had a write up on it for every possible cause... mine was the simple one, my idle was too high, so I screwed the little idle screw counter-clockwise to lower my RPM's and it worked perfectly.

 

i don't know how high it's going because it scares the crap out of me, but as soon as i turn the car on the engine starts to rev real high, i'll try adjusting the idle and let you know what happened.

 

IACV or something? What code is the ECU throwing?

check to see if your throttle cable is stuck, or try readjusting the throttle cable

 

I finally found the problem. First off, I took the the top throttle plate off a few days ago and there is a wire gage that u have to remove, and when I took it off I didn't look for loose pieces "very dumb right", so long story made short, there was just a piece of that wire stuck in the bottom throttle plate.
So I finally got it out, the only thing is that I played with the idle a little bit, so I got to adjust it.
