best settings for cam gears on 99 civic si
i got some skunk2 cam gears on some crower 63403 cams. i was wondering if anyone can give some suggestions as to a roundabout setting to use on the cam gears. ive heard stating with a small exhaust retard is good, anything else? people with si's, what are your gears set to? i know alot of you will say "dyno tune" but i dont have the hundred bucks right now to do that, and i plan on doing it later, but i want to toy around with it for now

Well, you can leave it at the stock setting until you get to a dyno, retard it 5 degrees on the exhaust and advance it 5 degrees on the intake and you're not going to know what kind of difference it's making. People keep wanting to mess around with cam gears without dyno tuning but to DO IT PROPERLY, YOU MUST DYNO! Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear but it's the truth. You can't trust the butt dyno to tell you if you're doing good/bad/the same.
If you insist on messing with them, keep the changes SMALL. Try -1 on exhaust and +1 or 2 on the intake (if I remember correctly, this shouldn't be a big problem). Screwing around with it can screw up your engine though. Why not just wait and do it properly?
