Alright, i just picked up a gasket for a d16a6 oil pan to go on my DOHC ZC engine. Can someone please give me some tips on replacing the oil pan gasket. These are the things i need to know. How to drain the oil, How tight the oil pan gasket bolts should go back on or what not, how to take the other stuff off to get to the oil pan. I dont have a lift or anything, im goin at it with common tools, and jacks and what not. How much of the sealant should i put on the oil pan begore laying the gasket in it.. etc
Also any pics would be great or if someone has the link to the crx manual online, thanks!

Wow- ok; ummm.
1.) There is a drain plug on teh bottom of the oil pan- you will need to remove this for the oil to drain out (car must be jacked up)
2.) when under the car you will see the bolts holding the oil pan up- remove these
3.) make sure that the gasket is not stuck on teh motor before continuing
4.) place new gasket on oil pan + sealant
5.) reverse
Have fun mang

you need to pull your header to drop the pan. you might be able to get away with sliding the header to the side (if you have a 1 piece header).
i only use sealane on the 2 rounded portions of the block and gasket. i don't use it anywhere else.

would it be bad to use a little sealant all the way around, let it sit for a few mins, so that when putting the gasket back up in there it wont fall out of place?
Also, how many bolts are on the header? And can you take the whole thing off (i want to paint it with high temp paint, looks bad now.) Thanks!

Would it be possible for me to just remove the 3 bolts that go from the pipe (name?) to the header and then move the "pipe" out of the way to get the oil pan out? Or will this **** up and gaskets and ****?

I finished finally, took about 5 hours, but it came out all good. Now my car loves me even more.. no more leak!

This is why using a 92-95 header pipe for the ZC owns...lots of clearance...of course its 3 inches closer to the ground too
Good job on the install, wasnt too hard eh?

i did the same thing with the lower half of my ZC header. i had clearance problems between the oil pan and the header, so i tried the Z6 lower portion (after reading about it on h-t).
i pulled out of my driveway and proceeded to scrape the header. i then went back into my driveway and pulled the Z6 portion off and put the ZC portion back on. i fixed my clearance problem by getting a moroso oil pan.

Was your car dropped any? I dont really plan on dropping mine any time soon, and when I do it will only be 1" or so. So far mines cleared all the speed bumps at my work and I've gone through some deep dips in the road and havent had a problem yet.
If it mysteriously starts to leak again, here is something you can check for....
Inside the gasket there are little brass washers. Sometimes those stick to the bottom of the motor and pull out of the old gasket when you take it off. Then when you put the new gasket on it doesn't seat well and eventually starts leaking. Check all of the studs for washers.
This is more or less for people who might search this topic. I screwed it up and feel its my duty to spread the word. I think CTWEB told me this, so it's his word first.
