Default fuel system pressurization gone bad?

damn... i dont know if its my fricken inline fuel pump or if there is something wrong with my fuel system! when i power my car to start it... i usually here a smooth buzz of the fuel pressure and inline fuel pump kickin it. lately, its just been an awful tune to my ears!

it sounds clogged at times... kinda like drinking from a straw, sucking up the last drop of soda on the bottom of the cup... but more of a hollow noise. like its suckin a little bit of fuel through the lines! my inline also isnt as loud as it used to be... but it still makes the buzzing noise.

thing is... car runs fine... no stutter.... immediate response when i step on the gas. my not-so-reliable air/fuel guage doesnt read lean at all.

anyone got some ideas on what might be causin this? my car is in bad shape. arghh!

sometime voltage cause the fuel pump to act differently. Fuel pump works on voltage and with too many devices that drains voltage, it may have an effect on it.

I have never seen it make a lot of difference to where it causes a major damage.

youre right. it actually could be the voltage. i noticed a few unusual "POP" noises when i cranked my engineduring my compression test a few months ago. it hasnt ran the same since then. how can i test for this problem? could i have blown a fuse or somethin?

did you just tap the power wire to the main fuel pump wire ? or did you run the inline through a relay ?

its tapped into the main fuel pump wire. thats why it turns on automatically when i power the ignition. ive done compression tests in the past and this has never happened before. what do you think went wrong?

you can do that, but just run a regular bosch relay for the main fuel pump wire...

hmmm... ill probably do that. where is a good place to pick up one of those relays?

what do you think is causing the clogging noise at start-up?

i had the same problem.. i know this might sound weird but the fuel sending unit (the hatch in the trunk) wasn't grounded properly.. so i grounded it tight and i had no more problems with my fuel pump priming..

note: i turn the keys on to the ignition and it sounded like what you described with my bad ground...
