Default What BOV, GReddy Type-R or Tial ???

Well the shop that does the tuning on my car claims that the bov can not hold the boost that I'm running. I'm using the GReddy type-s, cranked all the way down. I'm boosting 20#'s on a Built motor, Apexi Power FC, SC60. Just would like to hear some opinions on a bov that would be a good choice! Thanks !

Most BOV leak . I liked the HKS racing as they open against the outward airflow

Huh. I didn't know that....

Anyways, The Tial is really your best bet for high boost. The TypeR does sound nice, but with most honda applications it's not going to open properly under low boost. IMO, the Tial is the best BOV out there. It will release reliablly under low boost, and have the ability to flow enough for the wildest high boost setups.

If you want a louder sound from the BOV I would look into the HKS SSQ.

he is correct - most do leak...

greddys are crap as is the hks ssqv and the blitz isnt very far behind...

btw - i am suprised that the orginal poster is able to keep his type s together @ 20# - i personally blew 2 of those things into pieces with less pressure...

why would you say the hks ssqv is crap? it is designed the same way as the racing version, a pull type valve instead of the push that is prone to leaking.

ive had an hks ssqv on a couple different cars now as well as my friends and everyone has loved it.

the type r is specifically designed to hold higher boost, so this is best suit for your application IMO! the HKS SQV is a great sounding BOV, but is notorious for boost leak! i cant speak for Tial cos have never experienced it. i have a type S and it does the job well upto 1.0bar boost. id say go type R
this is of course my opinions....

how do you figure the hks ssqv is notorious for leaks? the more pressure that is put on it the tighter the seal gets...

My two roomates supras have hks super sequentials and they don't leak at 2.2 bar!
I wonder if it is instalation error or maybe a bad blow off valve (lemon)

Anyways, they love theres and have zero complaints

If you have ever seen a SSQ BOV leak, then it was either defective or broken. I have never heard of one leaking under 30psi (just ask Motormatrix). The Greddy's are awsome BOV's, but the TypeS is not really the best choice for high boost. To say they are "crap" is just well...crap. I'm not really a fan of the blitz, so I can't really say anything about it.

The TypeR is a great BOV for high boost, but if he ever want's it to release properly under low boost, he is going to have problems. Other car's such as the supra, will have no problems providing enough vaccum under low boost to release the valve, but honda's tend to have problems.

This is why I reccomended either the Tial or the SSQ.

I love my Tial...

I've personally seen a Type S take 30 psi for more than a few runs on a local b18c Turbo. I run the Type S at 1.0 Bar, no problems yet. Also works great on low boost.
