Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there knows if JDM ITR cat's are smog legal in Cali.

 

I say no, but I highly doubt most shops will go under and check out the part number on the cat if your emissions are okay.

 

jdm cats are lots smaller than usdm

I hope so...it be would nice too use a actual Honda part that has a 2.5" diameter on it.

 

No, cat would have to be stock usdm part or have a carb number for your specific car. But most shops don't look at the cat, most just do the visual under the hood and let the sniffer do the testing. U might run into a problem where the cat isn't removing enough NOx, HC, or CO and then you fail at the sniffer. Just make sure you go to a center where if you fail the first time, they retest for free.

the JDM cat is 14" compared to a USDM cat which is 17" long, they may notice the length difference

 

just curious, did you plan on running the JDM header as well? if you are running some kind of set up where the JDM cat will fit in, i'm guessing there is a good chance you can pass here in cali since air quality in japan sux.

but if you are running the JDM header also, that might be a different story...
