Default Cleaned Filter (Lost power?)

I have a short ram intake from my GSR

I just cleaned it with the K&N Recharging kit. I have notive three things that I though would be the complete oppotise.

1) Not as loud
2) Decreased throttle response
3) Dont hear the slight whistle that I used to like at partial throttle

Is this normal that anybody else knows of? I know its not that big of a deal, just wondering if anybody else has experienced this and if its normal until some of the "grease" drys off?

Did you use too much of the oil on the filter?

Possibly, is there a way I can take some of the oil off? Will it hurt anything having too much oil on it?

Try to sponge some off or if you have time let it drip off, that will be a sure sign of too much oil.

I would think, "K&N style air filter" I guess its a ripoff of k&n

I wonder if I should just go buy a new filter. I just hope I didnt/dont suck of and of that "oil" into the engine, I doubt it would hurt anything.

After I sprayed it... yes I let some drip off for about 30 minutes. (some did drip off) and that was last night. That car sat overnight and I drove into work this morning and noticed what I mentioned above.

yeah, sounds like you might have put too much oil on the filter. however, it should improve over the next couple of days. once the carrier evaporates and only the oil is left, the filter should be breathing as it once did. no need to buy another filter.

did you let the filter air dry before reoiling?

Take off the intake and wrap the filter with a clean rag, this should absorb the oil. Then clean the inside of your throttle body with a t/b spray cleaner.

Does anyone want to take a K&N Filter cleaning kit off my hands? I used it once and don't have a need for it anymore. Both bottles are almost full.

The problem I had long time ago when I was in college with a 87 Civic Si were I cleaned the K&N filter too often and oil build up thru the years onto the THROTTLE BODY's plate so my ideling got to be real erratic. I pull off the intake hose and saw that! I sprayed Throttle body cleaner and DAMM, Idel shot up and what a different in response. Try that for youself.
