Mugen or Spoon thermostat and fanswitch, any1 ran them?
Has anyone run a Mugen or Spoon thermostat and fan switch? If so how did you like it? Did it get to operating Temp. and stay cool but not to cold? Is it worth the money? let me know.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks for the temp. But i am more concerned with if they are worth the money and if they allow proper operating temp.
I have heard mixed things, but never from anyone with first hand expeirnce. So help me out here guys.

If you use the thermostat with water wetter, the engine temp will drop as low as half way b/w the first white line and nominal operating temp on the coolant temp gauge.
It doesn't seem to be a problem as long as you don't use water wetter. I don't have any coolant temp readings, so I don't know whether they it'll vary enough to cause significant changes in fuel trim and VTEC activation.
If you use a whole bottle of water wetter with the stock temp thermostat, the needle will still drop a little when cruising during the night or when the ambient temp is lower than 70 deg F.
I'd just get the thermoswitch or wire the fan up manually to a switch and leave it on most of the time.

Im running all 3 spoon cooling products in my gsr. Thermostat, thermoswitch, and radiator cap. The engine is kept well below operating temperature when driving in the winter months and at night time. During summer days, the car will still run much cooler than than stock but a bit higher than the systems average. When at idle or stop and go traffic or at a stop light is when the engine will reach normal operating temp of the stock parts. But as soon as you get driving again, the cold coolant will flow and engine temp will drop to half of normal temp.
As for it being worth it, it is when you drive HARD alot. Constantly hitting redline or VTEC or live in the desert areas. I would think FI applications would benefit as well from having a cooler engine. If you are just a daily driver and want cooler engine temps, just get a cooler thermostat at your local autozone for much much cheaper.
Sorry for the length explanation

Water Wetter
Hardwire your fans
I rock a hardwire fan. Draws hella current from the motor, though.
I say if you run a pretty hardcore setup get it. Otherwise just buy a cheap low temp thermostat from autozone.

its worth it .. remember if your always at it on the motor.. coooling is a must...dont use water wetter if you dont kno how to use it....it can actually be bad for you car...what mainly water watter does is all the bubbles in the cooling system..is what it prevents.. i thikn its called benzane or some **** .. but i was told by redline them selfs.. to use 2 to 3 cap fulls total in my integra..but what i do is... instead of mixing 50/50 in my cooling system i do 60/40 more coolent then water...im planning to get the spoon or mugen thermostat and switch myself...sounds like a good small investment.. plus im turboed myself too.. getting hot in san diego these days
Increasing the concentration of "coolant" in teh cooling system does not enhance heat transfer efficiency.
They should call it anti-freeze/anti-boil.

For a story on using the Thermostat, Thermoswitch, and Radiator Cap...you need to read this:
