OBDI is better for modifying, it's easier to get the ecu chipped and things like that...supposedly OBDII is better for emissions...

I would say that the above statements are true, but overly simplified.
The answer is more complex than, "better for this, but not that"
The real answer begs more questions.
What do you want to do?
How do you want to do it?
And, with which car and engine combo, do you want to do it with?

How would OBDII be better for anything?

Again, a very uninformed overly simple generalization.
xx dc2teg xx inclucded a link to a similar thread you should read it.
My point is this about OBD2. A 100% pure stock OBD2 GSR makes more
power than a 100% pure stock OBD1 GSR, look up the specs!
ALL, the while, probly getting better gas milage and polluting the air
WE ALL BREATH LESS! Do you think honda installed OBD2 and made the cars worse? That would be rediculous. OBD 1 cars perform better than OBD0
and evolution marches on. And on and on.
The problem with OBD2 only comes into play if your "Building" a "high-
performance" engine/car from a car designed to "Be a street car only!!!".

I am just barley old enough to remember the fading glory days of the "detroit muscle car" and when the government imposed strickter
saftey, air and fuel mandates, "everyone screamed foul!!"
"It can never be done!!"
We can never again have High performance cars with all these rules.
But, you know what cars got even better in EVERY way.
And todays cars are just as high performance as those were. Or more so.
If not alot better in every other way, saftey, mileage, etc., blah blah blah.....
The ONLY REAL difference between OBD1 and OBD2 is OBD2
controls MORE parameters of a cars OVERALL performance MORE
TIGHTLY and MORE frequently, than OBD1.
And the kicker is, IT IS SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW WHEN "THINGS"
have been changed. AND it has the power to OVERIDE those "THINGS"
