Default Keyless entry doesn't work – fuse OK …

The Honda OEM keyless entry on my fiancι's ’98 EX doesn't work. We came out to her car, and the dome light was flickering and the door was unlocked. We opened, then closed the driver's door, and the the car locked (the dome light kept flickering, so we just turned it off). The keyless entry system won't work at all. We tried both key FOBs and neither work. The fuse is okay, too. Any other guesses as how to diagnose and fix the problem?

You got a new deck installed didn't you? Well the domelight and keyless entry for civics 96-98 I believe is built into the factory radio. So when removed the domelight and keyless stop working. Best thing to do is to get a new alarm or you can check this website out. http://www.scosche.com/scosche...s.asp

No, I have the factory deck still - never touched the dome light or radio. It's been working for almost a year without problems.

The radio/CD player both work. Hmmm … looks like I'll have to bring it in.

My recent post shows a similar problem with my 97 SE. The keyless remotes stopped working, the horn blows sporadically when it isn't asked to blow. The dealer isn't sure what needs to be done to correct the problem. Have you made any progress with your problem? Apparently on the Civic, the remote functions through the stereo system. Is this the case with the Accord, if you know? I believe there is a separate module to which the remotes communicate. Can you help? Thank you. haicino@fuse.net
