Default mixing and matching cams and valvetrain

anyone ever have any problems they can honestly say it was becuase of the mixing or matching of parts when doing this?

my thinking is that there is no differance in the springs and retainers ment to run skunk stage 2 or 3 cams.

and since the stage 3 skunk is biger in lift then the JUN 3's. there logicly be no problems there either.

anyone care to share some thoughts on this topic of mix-matching???

every valve train component has its limits as far as how high the RPMS climb, but mixing and matching isn't a problem, as long as the parts are for the head, which every b-series head component is the same, so there shouldn't be any problems if installed correctly. Hope this helps.

as long as your cams don't have more lift than the springs can take. they'll bind and wreck your cams.

have some sense pal.

the title is mixing and matching cams and valvetrain.

soakit, and i for that matter, would like to know what made him CHOSE to use toda valvetrain over anything else.

such as,JUN....youve heard of them right.

JUN wants you to use their valvetrain with their cams, so why did you(busta) use toda.

did you find something better in the springs. stiffer, allow more lift??? or maybe you just had these sitting around?

i just wanna know what makes people use other valvetrain when there is a valvetrain designed for the cams they run??

Jun springs bind @ 12.0mm, Toda's can go as far as 12.9, maybe even more....

Todas are stiffer, probably one of the stiffest on the market.

install height has to be exact with jun springs....

did a search and found this,
my question is, has anyone mixed crower b series VTEC duel valve springs (part no. 68185) with toda spec b's or greater?

just wondering if anyone has had problems and at what rpm was your redline?

the reason I ask is because i have a set of Crower springs and retainers with 150 miles on them and a set of jun springs with 15k on the ... since my JUN3 cam broke and i am in the process of builing a new motor i am tryin to be on the safe side and don't want to take the risk of losing my motor due to using incorrect valve springs

Go with Toda or Portflow springs if you are going to run big cams-i.e. 12mm of lift or more. Talk to Tom aka Portflow about your setup and see what he recommends. He was the person that helped Jeff with that valve spring test-BTW.
