Default Which head DOHC VTEC head is best for power?

Out of the B series Vtec heads, which is going to make the most power. I don't want to raise compression either.

B16 or GSR or Type R

we picked up 80hp over the R head with the GSR head with both having full race port and polish on a customer who runs in the Hot Rod class, also in this class I don't think anyone runs the R head. I think that says something.

b16 kicks c5's ***. if P&P'd by someone who knows what they are doing...

i was reading endyn's site the other day and they stated that if someone were to bring them a stock type R head, they would go ahead and tell them that they cant make it flow as well as they could a stock b16 head.

that's because from the factory, the R head has the bowl ported, but they make it to big in that area and it hurts flow

correct my friend, the GSR head has a more efficient burn chamber, and with porting and polishing, will produce significantly better flow than the type R or b16 head. Every street race all motor setup I know has used a GSR head.

I think the way for you to go is the B18 or GSR head. I know they don't have the same potential, the G head is completly different the way the intake port is shaped the combustion chamber, I would have to say and I think I have done enough of them to say so but the GSR head is alot like a 2JZ head, they have the same chamber design and the ports are shaped very similiar.

it's no secret how much I charge, for a B or H series head I charge $850.00
this includes: fully ported and polished intake and exhaust ports
valve job and reface valves
dis-assembly
clean and inspect
assemble using your stock parts/or aftermarket
your options: reshape , blend and CC combustion chamber $100
ferrea intake and exhaust valves $338
Ferrea combo kit which includes-valves, springs,
spring locaters, Ti retainers and keepers $912
you can IM me if your interested, thanks.

Head, have you had any experiances with a b16 head? The reason i ask is b/c i have heard from a couple of knowlegdable sources that B16's are the best for full out potential.

Maybe we can get Crtis Boggs or efiguy from the Head work, holy grail of info thread that Im still reading

The ITR head is a B16 head with PNP from the factory, and upgraded valve train. But if you're taking bare head v.s. bare head. Just get a B16 send it out and PNP it... you'll save a bit of $$$ if you don't get a R head.
