Crank pulley key way is damaged
The key way for the crank pulley has a fairly large nick on one side. The shop says they can probably tig weld it and machine it down as a fix. Unfortunately, the guy said he's never done this before, but he thinks it should work no problem.
Anyone ever have a problem like this? What did you do?
Obviously I am trying to avoid buying another crank.

Thanks for the reply.
Well, this is the first time I've worked with him, but he has a good rep and seems like an honest guy. He also said that if he thought the fix wouldn't work he would tell me to get a new crank.
Its just that he said he's never had to do something like this; he said that "we are on uncharted waters". Hence, he is having another shop do the repair.
Anyone else have any thoughts, suggestions, experience with this sort of thing?

I had to have the same thing done to my old nissan truck. It lasted about a week, then the pulley tore off while I was doing 70 on the highway. Ended up having to put new crank in. I just hope your guy is better than mine was, of course anybody should be.
Dont get me wrong. Considering time and money, I say get the guy to weld it. If it holds more power to you. I am just saying I had a bad experience. I want trying to deter you in anyway. $hit happens sometimes, and it just happened to me that itme.
