what do i need to convert power steering to manual???
I just bought a 95 civic ex, with bad power steering pump and right side rack & pinion(the boot is broken). I want to convert to manual steering.

So you are saying that by simply removing the pump, or even the ps belt you can run the car that way and it doesn't affect the rack and pinion whatsoever? It seems to me like it would cause premature wear on certain parts???

Tweak also sells a kit that has all the necissary fittings and hoses, highly recommended.
You can just pull the belt, but you are still fighting with air and fluid in the pump and it makes it much harder to turn.
Once you loop the rack, and add a breather is much more bearable in parking situations. You leave enough fluid in the rack to keep it lubricated, so it doesn't cause any additional wear.

Buy a manual rack from a junkyard.
Gotta be better than fighting air and fluid in a non-powered power rack.
And save the weight all at the same time.
Gotta be millions of manual steering civics in junkyards.
Just my .02 cents

yes, either buy a manual rack from a junkyard, or, if you want to keep the ps turn ratio, remove the center seal from the rack and plug up all the holes on the valve body. It turns it into a true manual rack with a higher turn ratio. Still a little harder to turn, but I've heard it's still cake in a civic.
on my car I took out the pump/hoses. etc. then I bought two bolts and washers and put them in the in and out on the rack. I left the fluis that was in there and it works great. That is on a 96 integra rack.
you didn't pop your end seals doin that???
Usually, if you don't remove that center seal to relieve the pressure, your end seals will bust. I did it the first time around when I looped the hoses the wrong way (so confusing. in '89 the valve body had 4 holes
).
I'd assume you could do it in any car, if that's what your asking.
