Default Quaife fast ratio rack update

I should have the price for the fast ratio rack by this afternoon. They will be approx 15:1 (2.75 turns lock to lock).

Quaife will need 1/2 down to start production and so I will need your $ to do that. I will need at least 20 orders to get them started....tell your friends

I'm interested and would also like to know the price.

That plus;

1. Is it just the rack bar and drive gear that would be used in rebuilding or a complete unit.

2. Is it a power or non-power unit.

3. I know that this string is in the "EF" section, but could you clearly state what year cars it would fit.

4. Once Quaife gets it's deposit, how long will it take before delivery. Will delivery be directly from Quaife or from you?

Thanks!

What's the stock ratio, I'd be down if this is a lot lower and the price is descent...

I'm a little conserned that none of the above noted questions have been answered. This from somebody that wants us to send him money and then wait several weeks for delivery.

At least let us know roughly what the cost will be and what is to be delivered.

fastbrakes is a good guy. When he has the answers, I'm sure he'll let everyone know.

If it's a Quaife kit, then he isn't making them, just selling them..

Does anyone know the stock CRX Si ratio off hand?

BTW: Very interested.. Need a price.

I believe stock is in the range of 4.1 turns lock-to-lock for an Si and 3.9 turns lock-to-lock for a DX/HF. This will make a HUGE difference.

Sorry I forgot to post on here when I heard back from Quaife.

I will be selling the rack pieces (rack gear and pinion gear with bearing) manufactured by Quaife with 2.75 turns lock to lock. That is about 15:1 ratio.

I originally thought the cost would be around $350 retail, given such a small production run, but looked at the numbers again and realized I can sell them for $275 and still keep my shirt (if they sell).

So if you are interested please either contact me directly by email or phone/fax and I'll add you to the list. I realize new forum members are wary of sending $ to someone they don't know, so please ask around and satisfy yourself on the integrity of Fastbrakes.

Thank you for explaining why it's been so long to hear from you.

There are still a couple of questions unanswered (and a couple new ones)

1. Does it fit a non-power or power rack? Is it only specific to the EF's and second generation CRX's

2. As you describe it, it's up to the individual to rebuild his rack and install the items. As far as you know, are the other parts that would wear out available through Honda. As an example, I have to assume that there are bushings that the rack rides on and these would wear out over time. How about things like seals? (I know the end seals are still available due to having to having to replace mine.)

3. Any idea on delivery time? How many are you going to have to order. Do you anticipate having any problem with getting the quanity of orders required?

4. As I recall, in your original post, you said that you need 50% deposit. Is that still the case.

5. Dang guy, post your name and phone number if you want people to able to call.

The price sounds very reasonable!!!! (of course, in light of the fact you are working with Quaife, throwing in an LSD with the deal would be nice)

This is for manual steering racks only.
The end bushings and seals are available from Honda
Qauife specified delivery at 120 days from the order date
I can take the 50% deposit, although I'd prefer payment in full to cover all the costs.

Most people know my website, which has all the contact info, since this more or less a commercial post, I prefer not to anger the moderator gods by posting all that here My email is in my profile too...

As for LSD's, I can probably swing those as well, but would rather concentrate on this issue until the order goes in...

I was wondering the same thing. There was so much interest in this, but nothing ever came out of it.
