IMO it seems like your alternator is bad not chargin back the battery. Or your starter is bad also. You gotta get these check and found out. Good luck. I'd say its your alternator since you say power is out and stuff and makin it harder to start the ignition also check your battery. Good luck thats my 2¢

Take the battery to your auto-parts store and have them check it. Wonder if you have a loose electrical connection for timing or fuel. . . . .
yeah any local auto store should be able to check ur battery and alt to see if its shot. the starter has to be off the car i think
but sounds like ur alt tho

most likely it is your ignitor. My civic had a recall on it and I didn't take it in until I had the same symptoms. Also, there was another guy on the board with a g2 teg that had the same problems. As far as the battery goes, I've heard once you start your car you can disconnect the battery and the car still runs since that's what the alternator is for so the car going dead doesn't sound like the battery. My money is on the ignitor. Good luck!

You say you just bought the car? Well, maybe it's just me but...Have you gotten gas recently? Have you noticed any correspondence between filling up and when the problem started. you may have simply gotten a bad tank of gas. Try filling up (or adding octane booster) to see if that helps. Also, one other thing that causes that problem (anyone else had this problem) could be your turn signal/headlight stalk. Mine went out and I went all through the car before taking it to my mechanic. 15 min. later he tells me it's the turn signal stalk! It had a short and it was causing the car to freak out. (I swear, I'm not high...)
Anyway, those are 2 other possibilities.

well guy here is your problem...
YOU BOUGHT THE CAR, A PIECE OF $HIT CAR...
ok anyways, its not the battery or the alternator, why? because if you can crank the engine after it stalls then it means the battery still has power. if the engine died cause the battery or alternator was bad, then he could not have cranked to try starting the car again, duh
dont even bother with the battery or alternator.
what bamateg and dave421 said could be your problem, about the igniter and or having a short in the electricals somewhere. im not sure where else could be the problem but those are a good place to check. actully jus take it to a shop since it sounds likeyou dont know much about cars, sorry to say but it might be true. jus taking your car in somewhere get it check outsee whats wrong and bust out your wallet or your parents wallet and pay the mechanic to fix it. you first should had the car check out by a mechanic before you bought it. big mistake
