Default hondata experts look here

I recently purchased a hondata s200 with a base program, when i installed it into my vehicle the program seemed like it did not work. The car sputtered and would not rev past 3000 rpm. I went and got another chip burnt and the same thing happened. I put a p30 in while I waited to bring the hondata in to get fixed and tuned. The shop called me and told me the hondata would not work in my car they had tried 3 different boxes and 3 different computers. They finally tried to put the s100 in and that seemed to work. The only problem is that they can't tune it properly because they can't datalog. I would like to get the s200 going and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or any suggestions. Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance.

No clue on your problem.
Have you tryed the forum on the Hondata homepage?
I've posted some questions there and they have been answered pretty thoroughly.

Something that I have notice on HT. Everytime a question is asked about Hondata the general answer seems to be "buy a Power FC".

Weird, so your car runs fine with a s100?

Usually if you can't rev past 3000 rpms then that means that the eeprom can't be fully accessed for various reason including a fautly 74HC373 latch or some sort of bad connection with the interface wire to the interface box.

It seems to be an intermitent problem because the shop said they took it out with the s200 in and it worked but with an engine light and the box light blinking. When I took it out the car kept shutting off.

What did you take out? I am not sure what you are refering to. The EEPROM chip?

We have tried different ecus we've also tried my ecu in another vehicle and it worked fine. That makes me think that it is my car but have no idea what it could be in my car. I made sure that all the right wires were going to the right senors and have tried replaceing a few with no luck . The s100 that is in the car now acts weird sometimes to, it gets really choppy( almost like the car isn't geting fuel till 1 volt on the tps) at low throttle but it only does this sometimes.

Yup. Is there anything in my car that can make the hondata not work right but a stock p30 work fine.

P28
Stock injectors
B18a w/b16a head
bored .05 over
Jg intake manifold
52 psi with key in start positon engine not running

I don't have a copy of my base map and it has been tuned with wideband not on the dyno though. My car also idles at 1500 rpm it didn't do this with my p30 in i'm guessing that this is also caused by the hondata. Thanks in advance for all your troubles.

If you can get a copy of your map I can try to diagnose what's going on.

Is you old P30 obd1 or obd2?

Rocket first off thanks for your assistance. I think I figured out the problem. I was at the track on Friday and did a couple of passes none of them were below 16 seconds. I was pretty mad a decided I would try my p30, when i put it in it started to idle very erratically, not good. I thought that it was my fuel pressure but it didn't change anything. Anyways I got home and realized I had a major vacuum leak, checked all the hoses, nothing but then I remembered that the shop I took it to to do the hondata said they had to take my throttle body off for some reason and that they had put a new gasket on. I took my t/b off and viola shitty gasket big leak. I put a new one on and now p30 runs awesome again. The hondata p28 idles at about 300 rpm so they must have tried to tune it when there was a major vacuum leak so they just tuned it to run half normal with the vacuum leak. Thats my story sorry for the long post. Now I'm going to call the shop and let them know.
