Default who here has a late 90s HX civvy?

I'm deciding between a ex coupe and a hx coupe. the ex is auto but the hx is stick. i've always had a stick but the traffic is so deadlocked in the mornings i am seriously considering a auto. i read a review on the hx and it said the cvt was horrible and prone to failure. anyone know otherwise? i was suprised the ex coupe had 6 speakers like my stolen teggy. it had a redline of 7rpm too. i thought that was only in the si but then again never drove a civic until yesterday.

what do you plan on doing with the car?

HX gets like 40 some miles to the gallon with little aftermarket support.

drive the basterd without worrying about it getting stolen! i'm tired of always looking over my shoulder. i need something with good mileage and can go up a hill decent with the a/c on.

Well both of those cars will have trouble driving around with the ac on, atleast if its older than a 95, or 94, or sumthing like that. all i know is that older honda's AC sucks *** and isnt worth using. My friends 94 accord, sucks, friends 88 accord, sucks, sisters 93 accord, sucks, my 93 civic lx, sucks. All these cars it cant keep it cold enough to be bearable with the windows up.

Make sure ur getting a newer year and put that ac to the test if it is important to you. I doubt that HX will have enough power for you but AUTO is *barf*. Look for a 96+ stick civic ex imo. the more stop and go, the more fun stickshift is so natural to me stop and go doesnt bother me much, but then again i havent driven in much stop and go...

The biggest advantage that the Ex has over the HX is the transmission.... Gears are shorter on the Ex making the car a little faster and funner to drive...

Between a manual HX and a auto EX, I'd take the HX anytime.... You wont have any trouble going up a hill with the A/C on....

They only had CTV on the auto HX's, so thats not something you should be worried about.

If you want a car that will give you great gas millage, the HX is perfect, plus you get power locks, and windows.

I'm THINKING he means he will have enough power even with the A/C on, not whether or not the A/C is cold..

Even so I thought I should warn him because there is no point in using older Honda's AC. Atleast with my experience :/

And I guess you can get around fine with the A/C on, but the loss of power pisses me off. It is extremely noticeable in civic's, but you can still get around.

Really depends on what you are going to use the car for...

Either way I would get the HX. I have a 1997 HX and i put a 95 Si tranny in it. Made a huge difference and the HX is the lightest coupe i believe.

My vote goes for the HX!

I agree, but I have trouble going up hills in 5th under about 2700 rpm, thats my only complaint with the car. But I love driving it like I stole it and still getting 40mpg.

Ive got a 2k HX but i guess it doesnt really count as an hx anymore with a b18c under the hood. as far as aftermarket stuff you can use most things for the dx or ex but some things you have to modify slightly.

i wouldnt trade my HX for a DX or EX.. only coupe i'd trade it for is an Si .. my gears are long though lol.. 1st-40, 2nd-70, 3rd-103, 4th-120... lol but i do beat stock Ex's with it. may just be driving too.. but anyway, go with the HX

you'd rather have an hx than an ex? The only point i see in that is if you wanted better mpg...

It is lighter so a future engine swap would bring more gain, plus in this case the ex is a auto :/

yeah, mpg i guess, their more rare, lighter, and you could say they make a better sleeper. black moldings, and stuff, but you still have all your power options.

plus, no sunroof.. mmm reminds me of a type R
