Why is there little known about a 88-91 CRX si auto
Why is there little known about a 88-91 CRX si auto?? Was it rarely sold like and stunk like a balloon with lead. Because I've heard some at honda-tech talking about it. I was almost 99% sure that g2 crx si's were all manual. What kind of motor/tranny did the auto Si's have and did they have any thing special, Though I bet it was heavier. There's nothing like driving a manual CRX si with a really good motor and exhaust.
It was a dealer option to get an automatic trans in the si, people really never wanted to pay more for it so they just got the auto dx usually.
ummm.. all Si's are stick... all... never optioned.. all. prove me wrong.. every brochure with an Si in it does not list an auto tranny for it.. never...
all si's are manual.. every year.. never a CIVIC auto Si.. never

Yes I too have a crx brochure that is a Electronic Jpeg but a canadian Si auto owner proved me wrong, I'm not sure if he was lying but a bunch of people told me too and it was only availible in Canada from what I hear and not on the Us coast

I never thought there was an automatic Si either until I saw one and said OMG, It was a 1991 teal Civic Si. I also saw a yellow CRX with auto, But I cannot remember the year. They are very, Very rare. Ewww icky
usdm civic/CRX Sis are manuals. period. to bring things to a newer perspective, think about a canadian 99-00 Si. it's a usdm ex. the canadian SiR was our Si. was there an 88-91 cdm SiR? if so, i'd put $20 on it that they were all manuals.
been working at dealer since '89

NO Si's HO HF's NO base 3drs

I'd say 98.5% agree that IN THE USA, the only auto tranny's were in
DX's or as some people call them, CRX standard.
(the other 1.5% are retarded.)
It's on the Canadian model that no-one can agree on.
Was there "offcially" a CRX Si with an auto trans in Canada or not?
crxforum is the only one who claims to have seen one. Do we have anymore proof from someone?
Uk and JDM, "Si's" were DOHC ZC's and are not the same as USDM or
Canada.

Auto Trannies, WERE NEVER I repeat NEVER EVER a "dealer installed option."
Are you serious or just smoking crack?
Yeah, the dealer swapped in the shift solenoids and the AT ecu,
and all the wiring and changed the pedal assembly, etc, etc.,etc.
I hope you were just being sarcastic because of the lightwieght nature of
this frivolous thread.
I watched the tech put my A/C kit in in about 45-50 min.
There IS NO WAY you're going to put an A/T in in 45 mins.
Period. End of topic.

Go back and reread the question he never said did the U.S.A ever have an automatic si, he asked if they ever had one in general. And yes in Canada they did.

So now a dealer option requires how much time it takes them to put it in ? There are things that a dealer offers that could take more then a day, so its not about time. 4crx4me, you keep contradicting yourself. You say that the only proof is crxforum and you want more, but then in the other post you totally agree with him. Make up your mind.

Ok let me set things straight once and for all. When I first bought my CRX I knew how to drive standard, but not to well so I looked into getting an automatic. I went online, called Honda, other CRX owners and I could never get a clear answer if there was an automatic Si CRX avalible. Now what I have learned is this, and it is all real and Im not making any of this up at all. If you really wanted it you were able to order an automatic CRX Si from Honda. Now not alot of people would do this because there was a signifigant price jump from manual to automatic for the Si. So most people decided that they would go with the DX, which is what most people associate auto CRXs with. Now that you know that, I also learned that almost nobody ordered Auto CRXs because of the extra cost. I talked to a dealership in Richmond British Columbia about it and I was talking to a guy there who has been selling Hondas since the late 70s. He said that they sold 2 or 3 auto 88 CRX Si but not too many and he thinks that they stopped giving the option in 88 because people just didnt want to shell out the extra money. He is the only person that I have heard from a Honda contact that they made them. I saw one in person when I was in B.C. and got 2 emails from auto Si owners in B.C. who wanted some info on CRXs. Now I think this is how it worked.
1988 Honda CRX Si
1.6L Si Engine
Unknown Transmission
With all Si performance and luxory options
Between 10-100 sold in Canada, and possibly in B.C. only.
That is all I know, maybe I can clear some questions up but they did make them. Just because they were not in your brochure doesnt mean anything. I mean there was no CRX car cover in the Honda CRX Brochures but I have one and so do some other people.

NOT as you read it," ANY a/t Si's in general".
Did you read MINE correctly, thats a better question. The reason there is so little info on an A/T Si, is beacause THERE ARE NONE IN THE USA!
Why write or talk about something you never knew existed
It would be the same reason as so little info on the "Honda City Turbo"
or the AWD JDM Integra, or the glass top JDM CRX. Or N600
I never said I agreed or disagreed with ANYONE. I said "crxforum is the
only person on this board who says they SAW, YES SAW, with there own
eyes an A/T CRX Si". I wanted to know if ANYONE SAW one, besides him.
I never have, have you?
As I've already posted, from what I've learned on this retarded subject.
THERE ARE Auto trans Si's in every country honda sold the CRX in
EXCEPT, the USA!!!!!!!! BUT and this is a BIG BUT, so please read it correctly. The 2 Gen CRX Si was NOT THE SAME in the rest of the world
as it is here. DOHC ZC for one thing!!!!.
Lastly, if you know anything about cars . Then you know the VIN# tells you
many things. The model, manufacturer, country of origin,
country of destination, trim level, engine displacment and induction system. and oh yeah, WHAT TYPE OF TRANS!!!
So, as you can see you missed my point AGAIN. I wasn't saying
an auto trans could not be a "dealer option" because of the time required
for install. I was pointing out( which you missed BTW), that NO dealer can
change the VIN# and reconfigure a car no matter how long it would
take or how much one is spending on this particular "option".
And can you name me one dealer installed option that the "ACTUAL"
install time is more than a "day"? And one where the dealer doesn't
have to remove the ecu and the engine to swap transmission.
I didn't think so.
To put a dealer A/Ckit into a CRX all you need to remove is the rad support, glove box and small plastic duct to the heater core.
Have you ever installed a honda A/C kit? How long did it take, you?
And the bottom line is: I need no proof of anything. I don't care if there
are or are not CRX Si's with a/t. Just trying to pass on the wee small
bit of knowledge I've learned along the way without being told, "You
contradict yourself" or "You've read something wrong" or I understood something wrong.
Have a lovely day, all.
One last bit of advice: "Believe, only 1/2 of what YOU SEE and NONE
of what you HEAR". Just my tip of the day.

the reason there is little known about this subject boils down to the simple fact that no one really cares... who here wants to roll around in an auto. si... no one i hope... so if you cant stand the heat get the hell out of the kitchen
I thought the POINT of this forum was for sharing information about
Not for demeaning people for asking questions to "unpopular subjects". ie:
