Default Civic SI all motor project... ITR or GSR block???

Thinking of sticking to OEM parts... I want to build a poor mans type R out of my b16... Thinking of this setup...

B18c5 complete block ( NEW but have no idea where I can get a new one)
CTR cams
CTR spings
ITR valves

ITR oil pump/ITR fuel pump or should i just retain my current pump's... I don't know which ones are better

Comptech header
havent desided exhaust yet... still looking...

I'm still working on it, but i think its a good start.

I'm not sure what numbers i will be looking at.... Anyone have a similiar setup?

I normally stock the blocks but they are freaking backordered

I have 4 on B/O as of last month, and one of them is mine.

But to answer your question, there's nothing wrong to go with OEM. But keep in mind what your budget allows.

I'm working on another set-up that was currently a GSR/ITR head that didn't go to well last month. (I detonated with .25 piston already.).

You can make good mid-range power with OEM cams, but again, its up to the tuner.

There's no difference between a '00-'01 ITR/GSR/B16 (SI) or CRV's.......all are the same Honda part#.

As well with the fuel pumps.

The same.

well.... I'm deff' getting a 1.8L block... the 2.0L is just to much work... and I don't think i need to go that extreme... a ITR block would be around 11.1 compression with my b16 head, and 2 layer head gasket..... either skunk 2... JUN or toda stage 2, type B... ect... cams..... springs.. ITR valves... or stock CTR cams... havnt decided yet... since i have a hook up at honda... he can get me aftermarket parts with his discount.... I was just wondering the power output...

00/01 ITR cams are the same as CTR cams fyi and another way to bump up power and run a little higher comp is maybe switch out the pistons to CTR pistons, thats a very popular and effective OEM upgrade

The ITR and CTR blocks themselves are the same - P72. As for whether to buy a GSR or ITR motor, the ITR is the better bang for the buck. GSR motors are expensive as it is. If you try to upgrade the motor to ITR specs, you will spend MUCH more than you would if you just bought the ITR motor in the first place. Building a GSR up to ITR specs only makes sense if you already have the GSR motor.
