Default I want to put a B16A in my dc2. Is it possible?

I recently Blew my 96 GSR motor in my 96 DC2 and I am haveing a hard time finding a GSR longblock. I want to install a B16A 88-91 (SiR I) Long Block from Hmotorsonline http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...30017 its 500$ I need to get my car running while I find and build a b18 motor. Is this possible? Will this b16 fit my Tranny and clutch? will the Exhaust fit? will the motor even go in to car? its a 96 integra. I know its illegal to install an older motor in my car but I just need it running for a month or two. just to get me around. My car is obd2 will that be a problem? Has anyone ever done this? here is pictures of my blown motor. A rod cap went through the block and through the radiator. http://www23.brinkster.com/mikecollins/motor.html What really pisses me off is i installed a new t-belt/waterpump and Rad a few months ago. What a waste. Has anyone had a good experience with Hmotorsonline before? are they good? Thanks honda tech

OBD is really your only problem.
Why not drop in an OBD2 LS for a temp motor? Do you have to have Vtec?

yea, if you only need it for a month or two look for a cheaper LS or even a B20 motor in it.

I think putin' a B16 in a DC would be stupid, there's not enough tq. and the DC is to heavy fro that engine. performance would suck, especialy on da street. even though it's only temporary.
Why not go wit a B18 or B20 like SMZ GSR said.

You could just use the block if that is all you need. this would be easiest.. If your gsr head if fine just use all existing parts minus block. You could use the whole b16 but vaccums are going to be different. hope this helps. The b16 is shorter than the b18 so it would be much easier to use a b16 header than your existing peice.

B16a in a DC2 is about the same concept as a single cam in a 99-00 Si. Try to find a b18b or b20.

oh yeah, and although i definitely agree that the GSR engine is WAY better than the b16a2, please stop saying it is because of the weight...

a stock civic SI weighs 2612 pounds...
a stock GSR weighs 2665 pounds...

that 50 pounds isnt that much, especially when some of it is probably in the block anyways...so my GSR with the B16 in it weighs nearly exactly the same as the Civic SI with the same engine...

the long block is only 500$ and I can always use the head on a new motor when I remove it in a few months.

i say go for it. if you need a temp motor to run for a while go for it while you built up your motor. **** doesnt some dc integras in jap. run b16 and some run single over head? go for it while you build up your gsr motor less down time for the car.

Do it! Just do some research on the wiring.. If you have obd2 you might need a conversion harness and a new ecu.. i may be wrong.. look in the hybrid forum and ask them , i bet they have the answers!!

You idots it doesn't mean it won't be a decent car. I have a 94 RS with a b16a. The car weighs 2350. And guess what I smoke gsr's on a daily basis. People are so stupid in this forum reminds me why I'm never in here.

The guy asked if would work or not and twenty bandwagon brothers jumped in saying to get something else. Simple answer, yes it will work, I had a b16 in my car for over a year while I was saving up for my current motor. Ran fine, never gave me any problems.
