First, Geratol is right, it's a damper. Well, unless it spews oil all over, then it can be a dampener. Dictionaries are your friend.

Second. I dunno if I'd want to put something like that on the valve cover/topend. I wonder what the longer term effects would be on the headgasket. I know it's not a solid mount, but still...

I'd also be worried about those bolts on the valve cover. It doesn't take more than a few ft-lbs of torque to shear them, so I can imagine excessive engine movement easily shearing all three of them.
