hi guys, its me jomo, ive been banned so...
well, i plan to install kick panels in my swifty, but i want bass up front, i was thinking about 8" subs....what do you think?
i'll have mb quarts in the dash facing up, and im a bass head kind of guy
my installer/friend told me that is crap but, you know....
it'd probably be some low end blast kings or sum'n for the time being, i just want some bass up front!
would it cancel the rear? could i tune it on a decent crossover to my liking?
thanks
btw: don't tell anyone it's me

6 inch w0? hmm, what would the bass be like from a 6?
im probably going to try 2 8" sony explod subs in there and pound the **** out of em!
what about the enlosure? it would be sealed i guess, should i try and port the enclosure?

hmmm, try both, it's worth a shot, 6w0 would be nice though, i think they make a 6? lol, but if not 8w0 definatly, they're like 100 bucks a piece though, definatly sound awesome, they hit really hard for a damn 8, i think the bass from a 6 would be good, but hey, explod will be cheaper so try those

I doubt i could get those jl's for a good price where i live, hmmm, do you think i should go all out and try 2 10's?
id LOOOVE to have no sub/box in the trunk, you think 2 10's in the doors would work good for bass? maybe i could aim them towards the front? lol, maybe i could build a fiberglass enclosure under the dash and face them up?

THANKS! Its nice to see even when someone gets banned twice they can still get valuable info...i

8's in a custom sealed fiberglass enclosure would be the $hit
Cross them at about 45 and you should have lots of bass up front. Problem is finding a place to put them.

vteg: you say 'cross them at 45' you mean with a crossover right? tuned to 45hz? i think ill use my 10 inch kicker comp vr with another one and try them in a pre fab kick in the door....she better watch her feet!

Yeah, in an sq setup sealed 8's will easily hit 50 or 45. Basically cross them low so you get the illusion of bass up front. Then the sub can fill everything below 40-50.
ive looked in to this and it better if you run a good set of components

A good set of components will not get bass up front like an 8 will though, unless you are talking about a 3 way. With the three ways the midbass is normally crossed to high though. Generally aroun 400 or so. So the image may move towards the doors a little at the low end if you have kicks. At around 200 you will not be able to tell that the bass is not coming from the kicks.

You have a point, but every reputable installer that I have talked to (or car audio shop) has told me that if you install a sub up in the front of the car --like in doors or kick panels-- you can have tuning issues without the correct components. Otherwise, all you are trying to do is trick your mind into feeling bass like it is coming from all around you. A good 3 way set like JL Audio's components will help plus give sound quality; depending on the setup. Due to my setup, a 3 way system would be better than a set of 8 inch subs up front. IMO.

Don't do that...with just a component set and full sound deadning, my door hinges are already pissing on me.
That would be a TON of weight for a door to try to take

remember i would have 4's in the dash, 4's beside the rear seats and 6's in the back, and im more of a bass kind og guy, alot of the time i fade out ALL of the mids and just play the bass, when im tired of hearing those stupid rappers
i was also thinking of the weight issue cause i want as much weight up front as possible
oh well, if i install 8's in the ddors and dont like them for bass, i can easily use them for mids tuned differently, right?

the last sq car i built we installed 3 focal 6s in place of the glove box firing down tward the floor since bass is no directional it worked great for the sq side with kicks in the floor...then if you wanted to start street beating we set up a switching network that transfered the amp over to a pair of 10s in the trunk..but if you tried to run both at the same time as quoted you will have bass waves crossing which will make it sound way off beat..the only other way to change this effect is to use a time delay on the subs in the hatch to align the subsonice waves which can be a very hard task
8's wouldnt be bad if thats what you want I guess that the main thing is that its all in what you are going for...just sq a decated 6 in the right enclosure and tuning fequancy would work well..but if your looking for a little more bass your goin to have to install a sw in the trunk a 6 or 8 just wont be capable. the loudest I've recorded for the 3 6s was a 137 for 3 6s its decent but its not as loud as most people like..
*sigh* banned again
yeah, id still have subs in the trunk so i guess 8 it is....maybe if its too much trouble ill just go with 6 or sum'n, ah hell i dunno, ill probably get banned again, ******* unfair mods, all i did was wish death on a young boy sodomising ***! wtf!?
can someone ask a mod why they insist on banning me so much, ive done nothing, even apologised, &%$@^%@%2
