MB Quart OR Boston Acoustics?
good guys gave me a good demo with bostons but i instead put my cash on mb quartz..i heard good reviews on them and i got a good deal for fronts and rears....some of my "mods" ive regretted putting money into but the speakers are something i wont regret.
I don't care much for MB Quarts or Boston. What is your budget, and where are you planing to install these?lol... Denise

Mb Quart is VERY high end , and has a crossover box to prevent blowing those awesome tweeters. only problem with mb quarts is that they dont put out **** for bass, they are best paired with a sub. i took my sub out and couldnt stand the speakers so i put in 6.5 infinity reference for 70 each and let me tell you i dont really even notice a difference, im a turbo guy now though, not really into sound anymore, allthough im thinking of putting a sub back in

MB Quart is what I run front and rear. They are reference series. I got the fronts from caraudiowarehouse , a seller on ebay for $135 pr. They retail at $300 pr. They have good sounding midbass and very strong clear highs. Bostons would be more neutral sounding. I think either one is beyond most people's standards anyhow. Lot's of people are happy with just Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood and the like.
I'm absolutely thrilled with my Quarts. One of these days I'll install some 8's up front and the midbass with match the components.
I consider Boston, MB Quart and Diamond at the same level of sound and product quality. Just my $.02

yes but there is nothing like being able to have tremendous HIGHS amplified adn turn it into static sound without damaging it

How is the imaging of the hex superior? That depends on the install. Are you referring to accuracy?
Edit: Sounds more like on and off axis response.

i was referring to the imaging. i have heard them on the wall at the place i go to. i have compared them, and the imaging is wonderful. when heard in my car, because the install is not great, just in the door and the tweet is at the stock location, it lacks things.
i was gonna get some custom kicks made for them and add the 3way kit, but in the end i decided to sell my system because of some issues. basically all my time and money i spent on my system is gone now. but hopefully i will have my dream system in a couple years
EDIT: the car is a 2000 integra type r by the way

If your not going to use a seperate amp for these speakers, then forget about MB Quarts. They will sound like crap because you are not going to give them enough power. You'd be better off looking into something like Infinity's refrence line. Look for a speaker with a high sensitivity. MB Quarts are usually around 86dB, while the lowest Infinitys that I have seen are 90dB.
Edit: Or some Pioneers similar to what Curt has. Do you know what sizes you need?

Well I have Pioneers in the back already. I was going to get a separate amp. I don't like Pioneer, I want them to sound real clear and not muffled. I was planning to get the Clarion 400.4 to run all 4 MB Quarts. I need 6x9's.
The amp will help with the clarity on its own. Try just the amp, and if that is not enough, then upgrade. I think the addition of an amp would make more of a difference than a different set of 6x9's, especially if they're mounted in the back.
Your front doors use 6S speakers. Good luck finding them. Your best bet would be to go with 6 1/2" speakers and custom mount them like I did, or you could use the JL VR600CS component set which bolts right in.

top shotta knows.
I find the vr600's cant take too much juice. I swapped a few of those out.
--the 6,4, tweet set, we had a guy that we swapped out on him 2x. yikes.
as long as they dont nuke, they sound good though.
the original qestion: I'd go with the bostons, as I find most mb's a little on the brassy side, if the top end isnt eq properly.

i would go w/ boston because it has a smoother sound. mb quarts are too high for me. but if your talking about the q series, that's a different story. the high end bostons have huge *** crossovers, so that's another thing you might have to take into consideration.
