how do u fix an air/fuel mixture problem? about a week ago last saturday i down shifted into second to slow the car down, i was going around 50mph, which i do on a regular basis. after doing so my car threw the engine light and started bucking, but only in second gear. it did this all the way to work. eight hours later i get back in my car to head home and the problem was gone. i went to autozone to get the code checked and reset and haven't had any bucking since then.

the only thing thats happening now is there is a definite lag. the only way i can describe it is to compare to a nitrous kick in. if i left anything out let me know, and i'll do my best to give more information.

What code did it throw?

I've seen this happen before, and what happened was that it overreved and threw the valve clearance out of adjustment. But thats usually with a BAD overrev, you going to 2nd gear at around 50mph shouldnt have been that bad.

Did you check the code before they reset it?

 

he didn't tell me that actual code number just that it was throwing a air/fuel mixture problem. i said 50 mph it could have been 60mph, all i know is that it didn't redline coulda come close but didn't.

 

maybe 02 sensor?
