Is there such thing as "throttle body cleaner"??
We talked about shooting it down the TB to clean the intake manifold out and stuff, but I for the life of me cant find the stuff... just a million brands of carb cleaner...
some of the carb stuff even says "dont use for TB's instead use our TB cleaner....but its nowhere to be seen....
anyone?

carb cleaner throttle body cleaner are the same thing....all it is is a sprayh that gets rid of carbon buildup inside your intake and on the valves works fairly well
I just wonder why some of the carb cleaners would say not to use it on TBs???
But as long as there are no ill effects...
thanks

there is throttle body cleaner but be careful about spraying to much into you intake manifold unless your going to take it off and clean it. if you get to much into your intake manifold then start your engin it'll have a hard time burning it fast enough. watch out for possible hydrolock. hydrolock=bent conecting rods=bad news all around=**** out of luck for a while. good luck be careful man.
there is one that they sell at kragen, autozone, etc. I use the valvoline throttle body and carb cleaner. Used it many many times w/o any problems. Seems to clean pretty good too. It comes in a brownish, tan can.

Why on earth would you spray it in there without the engine running....or am I missing something?? (in response to the bit about hydrolocking)

Yeah, wtf. If we're reading this right, he said to watch out for spraying it in with the engine off?
Let's be up front: NEVER spray in carb cleaner with the engine off. Carb cleaner is meant to be used with the engine running.
Edit: By the way, I used some carb cleaner a while ago with the engine running. It didn't do a damn thing. I had to take the intake manifold off to really get it clean, and that involved liberal amounts of direct carb cleaner, towels and a wire brush. I've heard great things about Seafoam actually doing something, but we don't get Seafoam up here in Canada
