Default gsr vs. ls turbo

how would both of these setups do at 9psi on the track... comparable to each other obviously. Asume exhaust, boost controller, and other minor upgrades.

the GSR would probably do mid to low 12s and the LS will do low 13s to high 12s.

Well, its not recommended to do 9psi on a stock GSR motor. They recommend up to about 8psi. The LS motor can do up to like 10psi I believe. Therefore, the LS would actually be faster.

If everything is setup correctly with properly sized turbos for the different motors the GSR motor should make more power and therefore win assuming the power can get to the ground. the VTEC head simply can flow more air then an LS head. However, if cost is a concern, for the price of a GSR motor swap I believe you could make an LS faster.

I had friends boost up to 12psi at the track with a bone stock GSR. I don't know about LS motors though.

One friend hit a 12.8 with a bone stock GSR @ 8psi. With 22x13 inch slicks of course.

well the GSR does have a higher compression that the LS. I have boosted up to 10 psi on my LS CRX, with stock injectors and 112 leaded racing gas. But back in 99 I did see a guy and his friend both with the same setup. 96 Integra LS, both were running 550cc injectors with DFI and tuned by JG(YUCK), and also were running stock bottom end. They would hit consistent low 12's. 12.5, 12.3 12.0. And they were running 15psi. I don't think the GSR stock bottom end more can handle it just due to the fact that it has a higher compression that the LS motor. I could be wrong. LS motor parts are easier to find that GSR.. Just my 2 pennies. PEace out

If both are done the same leavin the gsr stock high 10:1 CR then i'd definitely would gone with the LS. But if the gsr was done up the bottom end definitely the gsr would win. Hey accordking your friend gsr still runin fine on that stock bottom end @ 8psi?? What kind of turbo kit was it? Thanks.

The car with the GS-R will win. Also depends on the driver. There is this guy that ran 20 psi on a GS-R and only hit a flat 13. Lack of track experience.

You can build an LS engine to be really beasty. Just need the $$. There is a guy that ran a 11.9 with slicks @ 14 psi on a built engine. 92 integra i believe. Full interior.

He bought a used first generation DRAG kit with a chipped compressor blade. He's running fine at the track with 8psi. But for everyday use he's only boosting 6psi.
