I don't think it's my clutch, cuz i didnt' shift, I just gassed it in second to about 6500 then let off the gas... or maybe it was something in the air... but is wrotten egg smell coming from your car an indication of anything?

Read my last post, this is an edit.... the cat has 1500 on it and it is a new carsound cat... the cluthc doesn't grab anymore higher than 5500 with ACT, no tevena chirp with this setup... ****... now I have to find a new disc... preferably not ACT, although i'm sure the pressure plate is fine... My disc was warn said the machinist.... What!? Haven't even put 15,000 on the damn clutch!

most likely that, but if you know your cat is good, might be the gas you're putting in it

 

It's not from a bad cat. It's caused by gas with a high sulfur content.

 

Damn, this carsound cat has less than 2000 miles on it... I use chevron supreme...

 

Im guessing your clutch is slipping, i dropped my car from 4k once and it completely slipped (216k old cluctch and it smelled like rotten eggs afterwards. To test drop the clutch while in 5th gear, the car should stall immediately. if it doesnt your clutch is probably slipping.

Not quite. At least not yet. Although rotten egg smell (hydrogen sulfide) does come from the cat (a car without a cat will NEVER have this smell), it is not the cat itself that is at fault. Rather, you have a mixture problem. Your engine is probably running rich. Since ALL gasoline has sulfur, sending excessive amounts of unburned and partially burned gasoline into the cat supplies it with large amounts of sulfur to play with and make nasty stuff like hydrogen sulfide. Deal with this problem ASAP since a rich running engine can make short work of a cat.

I think it's my clutch... it only grabs at 5500 now instead of 6+ with the S1 cable tranny. I can tell too when i floor it from 4500... It's not grabbing the power up high. I only had this ACT 6 puck for less than 15,000 if that for about a year of driving or less than that. I bought the full HDSS kit and was told during my rebuild that the disc was worn...???? From what... piece of **** ACT 6 puck... i should get a freakin refund for that... I don't even drag race frequently.

I'm agreeing with Chiovnidca and StorminMatt.

 

Did you test it? Drop it in 5th, or 3rd w/ the ebrake on will work too. The car should stall right away, otherwise it is the clutch slipping.

 

if you have no power on top, intake is loud as hell, and a rotten egg smell..then it most definately is your your cat i have gone through a couple including a carsound.

 

that rotten egg (sulphur) smell, isn't anything to get your panties in a bunch over. even new cars emit that smell out their exhaust whenever they floor it. have someone drive behind you while you nail it and see if there's any excessive smoke coming out the exhaust. if there is, THEN it'll be time to start thinking.
As for your clutch, did you properly break it in? it sounds like you didn't...glazing the contact surfaces...therefore causing it to slip prematurely.

The clutch is 2 years old... not that many miles on it though.... How do you break in a 6puck? It was grabbing 4th one day, then to not even chirping 2nd the next day???

I should also note that this tends to happen when a car that is generally conservatively driven is wrung out. That is why you often smell it while climbing steep hills.

It all has to do with your A/F ratio. Is your ECU chipped? Have you raised your fuel pressure? Have you changed the fuel with a VAFC?

When I am in boost my A/F ratio is between 12.5:1 and 12:1. During that time my exhaust smells of sulfur. Many stock Hondas run in the 12s for A/F during WOT. The problem is even worse with some of the bootleg tuner chips in some chipped ECUs.

 

my friend had the same problem,it ended up being his battery was going bad.
