I have an LS swap and have been thinking on swapping in a d16y8. For some reason I have this urge to build an all motor D. What do you guys think? Whats the most HP I could get from an all motor D. Thanks

Why is it stupid?? Your just triyng something different nothing worng with that. There is all sorts of power in a D-series you just have to have the money to unleash it.

hell yeah. There are quite a few people that have built some bad-*** D's. I think the fastest D ran a high 10 in the 1/4 but I'm not sure. Hot Rod Honda had a crx with a low 11 second D in it about 4 years ago

I just pulled my B16 and replaced it with a d16a6.....of course I am doing "something" to the B....I am happy with the D until the B is done....

So you've tapped the secrets of the ITB swap? Let me know how you rigged your set up so I can campare it to others.

How can you not "notice a difference?" There must be something wrong with your engine.

I'm beginning to be happy about my choice of sticking with the D-series vs going B18B... My motor is extremely light, yet it puts out quite a bit of torque and high-end horsepower. However, I had to invest TONS of time, money, frusteration and research into my swap to get it to run the way it is running now. There is a LOT of fine-tuning problems that you have to deal with to get SOHC VTEC motors working properly on OBD-0 vehicles.

Even now it still has more potential, I'm thinking A6 pistons to bump up the CR to 11:1 - heh, it's already a stout motor, and with the higher compression it will be a complete beast.

My b18a made a huge difference over the D, but it was a d15 and not a d16. You can tell by quarter mile times if it helped, and I dont think a D16 with I/H/E would run a 14.7. Something has to wrong with your engine. Anyway back to the D power, if I did higher comp pistons, a cam, port and polish, header, intake, and exhaust about how much hp would I be around. Also what pistons can I use for higher compression? Someone said that making a fast D is expensive, is this true? One of the reasons I have thought about doing this is because I thought it would be cheaper thank a B. I am looking for 13 second timeslips, what would I need to have done to do this? When fully built for an all motor application will a d16y8 make much more power than a fully built d16y6? Thanks

I love my stock dx motor in my '90 DX it is a beast. I beast my coworker's 02 EX with it. HAHAHA. It is a really big turd but it keeps me out of trouble. I might be putting a D16A6 back in my CRX for awhile till I get the new motor done.
