Default do i have to spend more money?

i have been having a problem with my car running crappy as hell lately. i thought it was fuel realted but everything checks out ok. anyway, i was messing around with my car again to try and figure it out and i found something i dont want to be true.

while reving the car in neutral to see if it revs freely i found that at about 5K rpms the motor would stutter badly and it just keeps going all the way to redline. i was damn why the stuttering? i also noticed white smoke out of the valve cover breather.....****!, so i pull the dipstick there is smoke......ahhh and to add to things it smokes really bad out my exhaust when i take the rpms past 5K.

my compression check came back 160, 160, 160, 160 like any other day. i have been reading up on the smoking and i may have busted rings or ringlands, but some ppl say some smoke out of the dipstick is normal?

i wanted to build a Y8 but not this soon and to make things worse i dont have time to build and break in a motor because i am moving to cali next month and im supposed to be driving.........wat timing huh? so am moving toward buying a short block.

can anyone help so that maybe its something else and i dont have to buy one.

if your compression is fine, your engine is fine. Bar none.

thats wat i thought too, but there are so many different opinions on HT its crazy. ppl have mentioned that compression could check out but still have something wrong with the motor.

so then you think its my PCV system not doing its job?

and the smoking? headgasket related?

ill be more than happy to just change the HG if that is for sure my problem. a whole lot less work than switching out short blocks

and wat is yall's thoughts on the stuttering motor

Last time I had white smoke coming out my exhaust badly it was a broken head gasket of course I didn't have anything going on after 5k as you state, but I would suggest doing a leakdown test as well since the compression check came back fine.

Heard another individual stating anytime he gets white smoke coming out of the breather he has to replace his ringlands.

while you pull the motor apart you might want to check the pistons to make sure they are ok. stock d16 pistons like to break easily.
