Default little piece=big problem?

the head is a Z6 head. it had no camshaft but the guy i bought it from gave me a "jg" camshaft with it. the rocker arms were torqued down without the cam in it. i went to put in the cam today and while i was holding the rocker arm assebmbly 3 pieces of metal fell out. i searched but i couldnt find where they went. i assembled the head anyway without fully torqueing everything down and it seemed to turn just fine. i suspect that these pieces have something to do with the vtec activation. ill have the picture of them up in a little bit but in the mean time it is a solid metal(steel i guess) cylinder. it is almost 1/2 inch high and the diameter is 3/8 of an inch. they have wear marks going around them. also 3 of these pieces fell out.

What are they and Where do they go.

im more interested in where they go.

someone please help.

damnit digitalpose is down. ill just post imagestation links. PLEASE click on them im lost to where these things go.

someone corect me if i'm wrong but it looks like a doul(sp?) pin to me? they just help you line up the valve train in the right spot. you don't really need them so i wouldn't worry much as long as everything looks lined up right.

That's the VTEC hydraulic piston that engages the extra lobes.

It goes between the lifters, and should be pushed up against a spring to get it installed, then lock itself in plave on the middle lobe... at least on a DOHC VTEC it's like that.

HTH.
