We made an custom 3inch dp and removed the carsound cat housing (the internals of the cut was removed already) We made the whole exhaust new from turbo to first heat shield on the car (where the shifter is). I drove the car out and wow, I can hear the turbo spool it is louder, it seems the turbo needs less energy to spoole, it seems the turbo is spooling like free, like there is no exhaust.

Fact: better response when I tip the gas pedal and spool up is about 200-300 rpm better. hehe, have to go on dyno and check that mod.....it will be an very accurate dyno comparison from 2.5 inch dp vs 3" dp, since I made no other mods since my last pull.

did you notice any difference when you gutted the carsound cat?

i plan on ditching the 2.5" maxrev dp, and carsound cat for a custom 3" downpipe.

How much boost/power are you running? Just wondering if it makes much of a diff for lower boost applications.

 

375 - 400 whp 18 - 23psi

I cant tell if it made a diff, cause I can not feels a few ponies difference, haha.

But I had 40whp more than on last dynopull with equal length manifold, gutted cat and removed restricotr from mid pipe resonator and open wg...all that at same boost level.

ps: it did not get very louder with the gutted cat or 3inch dp.
