Hey Dirtylude, any news on the Haltech?
Last I heard you had the car idling, barely. I read through the Haltech site tonight, geez it looks like a ton of work just to get everything setup, let alone get the car to run right. Hondata is looking better and better.
Actually it's not alot of work at all. I just went through alot of dead ends. Especially with the triggers. Mark Bremer told me which wires to use, but I had already wired them in based on what the Helm manual said was positive and negative. I found out later that Honda uses the trigger on falling edge, so the trigger needs to be wired up backwards to what my Helm manual states. After I swapped the positive and negative, it started right up. I got it idling without the idle control solinoid plugged in, but that's as far as I got.
I'm only home 3 days a week and I have a baby on the way, so I don't have much time for this. Last weekend I took the turbo off my car to get an emmisions test done. The turbo is staying off until the rebuild is done next month.
This weekend I'm going to start again working on it on my NA engine. I need all the practice I can get rough tuning to get the thing driveable. I can swap my OE ECU and plug the Haltech in within 10 minutes now. I don't expect anymore major hurdles. If it works out really well, I might not plug my OE ECU back in after this weekend.
I've already started an article on the install. I'll finish it up once I get the car driveable, so hopefully next week or the week after.
I'm currently using all the honda sensors except the MAP sensor. I found the stock sensor reads a little higher than the GM sensor. It's nothing you can't tune around, but I don't want to move the fuel and ignition maps around when I switch to the GM sensor, so I'm just using that.

Well. I didn't have much time this weekend, either. I spent about an hour and a half on it. I managed to plug everything basic in again and try out a map that someone helped me to make. I have it so that it runs well under no load condition. I got it moving around a bit, but that was when I had to leave. I figure I'll complete a rough tune enough to drive around with next weekend.
It's running well. I hooked up everything and I've been running on the E6K alone for the last few days. After the emmissions test this weekend, the stock ECU is being tossed for good.
I'll have the article up next week on the install. It's pretty simple, and I figure with a starting map someone can get their car running within half a day just using a test harness, it's really not hard at all.
