Default driving without oil

ok, so basically i'm a big dumbass. i checked my oil today and there wasn't any - period. i put some oil in and i'm gettin it changed tomorrow. my engine has been running perfectly lately - normal idle, normal temp, no smoke, plenty of power, no weird sounds, etc... so do you guys think there could be any engine damage even though everything seems fine. i'm a tiny bit overdue for an oil change, but i dont see why i would be burning that much oil - i only have 53k miles on my car. so what's your consensus guys? thanks in advance

You should be fine...Running low on a quart is not really bad, but not good either..Just check it once a week or when you get gas..Add accordinly.

check your oil often. I heard its normal for VTEC motors to burn oil esp. if you are in VTEC a lot. Otherwise, follow the above tips.

I think he means you are missing ATLEAST a qt of oil. Check it regularly... yes, it will do damage and considerable damage to run with little to no oil. I have a friend with his motor ripped apart as we speak for doing just that...

No, it's not normal. I'm in VTEC alot and I burn zero oil, and the motor has 140K miles on it. If you didn't have any oil in the engine, you would have (or should have) seen the oil pressure light come on a LONG time ago, and probably the CEL, and of course VTEC would not be functional. But if there's none on the dipstick, you're probably only a quart low, which should not be engine damaging, but find out the source of the oil loss ASAP.
