got an alignment yeserday..
well i had a little acciddent and my alignment was off, after i got htis alignment the guy told me that my front beam was bent alittle so they did the best they could, but it might still pull to the left a tiny bit. what is a front beam? and is this really bad? how much will it cost to replace if i have to? thanks
dude i just crashed my lude too. i had to change my whole left side suspension(lower and upper control arm, spindle) because my left tire was like popping out and it keep eating the inside of the tire. so i took it to get it align, once there they told me that i need to change my "rear x-cross member" cause it was bent. Im all pissed off. does any one have any idea of what might be my car's problem???
just to let u know... alignment has nothing to do with toe... its totally different... from accidents usually the toe gets f'd up... also, alignments are pointless unless you have a camber kit... so for future reference, don't waste 80 bucks for an alignment if u don't have a camber kit...
not true... it's usually $40 for a 4 wheel alignment, and if the camber is off they can pop in a new lower ball join that allows for a 1.5 degree adjustment. Plus the alightment can tell if the toe or caster is off, and can be corrected also.
Are you no-specific people talking about wheel alignments or frame alignments. And for the record you can't adjust you frame, just thought I'd clear that up so I don't receive a response like.... "holy **** you ******* idiot you can't adjust your frame."

please dont listen to this guy.

I got an alignment this weekend. They adjusted the camber on the front, said they wouldn't do the back because loosening the nut might allow more play??? The backs are 1.8 degrees out. Also front passenger caster is off, the guy said only a body shop can fix that. What's up with this? Eibach prokit with kyb agx shocks only.

thats what i was thinking when i read this the first time, but i'm not sure either. anyway if it is i just saw this on ebay and thought it may help (if it is in fact your crossmember).

edit: i checked http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/home.htm and it looks like the front cross memebrs are interchangeable. Both gens list two p/n, but one is the same p/n.

you can adjust the caster up to 2 degrees yourself. There is a rod that runs from the lower control arm area up front to the frame/subframe.. something in there. You use shims to adjust, I have to do that to mine as my passengers is pushed 2 degrees back.
If it's any more than that a body shop would have to bend whatever is out of whack to a more normal posistion, or in my case the body shop figures the knuckle might be bent

im so confused right now. who does alignments themselves???? i thought you needed a computer to tell what the angles are? how do you know if you adjusted it too much??
I did my own alignment after I installed my springs. I used an alignment machine at school. The only thing you could adjust was toe using the lca like said before. It didn't mention anything about being able to adjust camber so I didn't but all 4 wheels were within range. So caster cannot be adjusted, camber can (im not sure how without a camber kit) and front toe can be adjusted. You can't adjust rear toe with an alignment because thier is nothing to adjust in the rear unless its been damaged and that must be done at a body shop along with caster adjustment.
maybe it's different on 4th and 5th gens, but 3rd gen upper control arms have slotted holes for the ball joints. It's not a whole lot to work with, and definately wouldn't cure a 2-3" drop camber problem, but it is adjustable.
