Well, if changed your suspension radically, such as dropped the car, swapped control arms, etc, yes, an alignment will help you. Does your car pull one way or the other? Do you have wear on the inside of your tires due to negative camber?
You can get an alignment done without a camber kit...they will only be able to adjust the toe, which, if off, will cause more significant tire wear. If you have only slight negative camber, I wouldn't worry about a camber kit. If you have crazy negative camber (the tops of your tires are tucked in but your bottoms are splayed out), I'd consider it or you'll wear the insides of the tires out.
I just had an alignment done after swapping my rear LCAs and it made a huge difference.

if you're lowered, the camber will be off, and they cannot adjust it without a camber kit.
That's fine. A little negative camber will not hurt you. However, you still need to have the toe aligned periodically. If you take it to a place and they give you crap about camber, tell them just to zero the toe out.

What kind of an ignorant question is this? It's not even technical car stuff anymore it's just common sense. If you align it the wheel sits straight if the wheel sits straight the rubber surface sits straight against the ground, if the rubber sits straight against the ground you get more friction creating more traction..If the rubber sits straight against the ground not only little section of the tire is doing the work thus reducing tire wear..Jesus Christ.
