A/C Removal HELP...
well i am removing the AC as i type , but i was trying to remove the sunction and discharge hoses from the compressor, and while i was unbolting it it started to release gas....is this right or am i screwed?? help.
I took my car to a A/C shop for them to suction all of the refrigerant out of my car. The older-type (from the 1950's-1970's or so) refrigerant was toxic, but I think the newer stuff isn't as bad. If I were, you at the very least I would not do it in an enclosed area. But, to be safe, I would wait, go to a shop, get it taken out and then remove the A/C system safely.
well its too late for that now....i didnt think this through....i have tried to tighten the bolt back, but there is still a leak...so i guess i just let it go?? **** i feel awfull!!!
If you are refering to r134a, it is still toxic to breathe - just more ozone friendly. If you breathe enough of it in you can collapse and die at least thats what the can says.

Do a search at http://www.howstuffworks.com they may have a section on car airconditioning or do a google search on how to remove/recharge air conditioning systems.

just let it go. just lift the garage door if possible.
if you ever want to put AC back in, just get that o-ring of the screw you opened and replace it. cuz now it leaks and needs a new one.
if you want to be safe, get a fan and blow it all away into the outside.

lol.. yah, ive been around one to many AC's when letting the gas go.
yah, that is all that is left.
but if you are taking out your heater, you have coolant lines running to the box and you need to drain the coolant from the rad and block, unless you can be very careful.
just be extra careful with the ACcompressor. any liquid you get in it will tend to seize it up, a little accidental oil or lube wont hurt it, but just dont try to clean it off with brakekleen or anything if it is dirty.
