piston and valve clearnace?
i was reading in teh crx forum and some guy asked if he put a gsr head ona b16 block wold the pistons hit the valves cuz he would be running CTR pistons that have that crazy dome.. well i am going to be running b18c1 block with je 12:1 pistons (crazy dome like CTR) meant for a gsr setup. i am going to be using my b16 head. will my valves hit the pistons? sorry i am just all paranoid with this motor i dont want it to blow up when i crank it.
You need clay the motor and check the clearances. Then you will Know for sure if you have room or not. Look on c-speedracing.com for the instructions on how to do it.
It's likely to depend upon your cams, as much as anything, since they control the amount of lift and the timing of it.
If you are assembling the engine yourself, I'd suggest claying the piston to check clearance. With 12:1 I think you'll be fine. Worst case, you take the pistons down to a local shop and they machine a little wherever the clay indicates you have interference -
Odds are better than 9:1 in favor of working fine, particularly since they're designed for a GSR.

man if i had time and the know how to clay my motor i would lol. i just ahve no time to be claying anything. is ther anyone here with any past experience with a b16 head on gsr block with pistons that have a crazy dome? like CTR or JE
would it be better if i just got lower compression pistons and get rid of these JE 12:1 pistons? i dont want to have the pistons dome hit the valves i would rather be safe than sorry. what piston is good to get that will for sure work in a b16 head b18c1 block combo with good valve and piston clearnce?

You should have no problems. My buddy runs ctr pistons in his gsr with ctr cams, just for comparison sake. You really should check with clay though. I ran my itr motor with jdm itr pistons with 2 layer head gasket with toda b cams and had tons of clearance left.
i wish i could but i got no time for claying this motor. i now that the b16 head on a gsr block lowers the compression by .2. i am just getting scared now lol. thers got to be some one on this board that has a b18c1 block with b16 head with high compression pistons with type r cams that can tell me about their experience.
oh yea Tbone thanx for your help

Dont freak too much 12.1 in considered mild these days. The b16 head lowers the cr because its combustion chambers are larger than the gsr. If your really freaked go ask in the type r forum. You do realize that the type r head starts off as a b16 head (same casting) and the gsr block and the type r are the exact same block. So what you have now is called a poormans itr.
Whats the dome cc and compression height on your pistons?
Just to give you even more of a idea, my last motor had 13.1 cr pistons with a itr head that was milled .020 with toda b cams and I still had room.
