If you are not too mechanically inclined I wouldnt attempt to install it yourself.

Ya, me too, no one really talks much about them, but from what i understand it would be a tremendous help. For the install, do u need any special tools to do it or just normal ones?

i have a quaife. Its awesome, but not very streetable. It doesnt make much noise, but it needs to be driven a certain way to be "engaged". Basically, not lifting off the gas, racing or not. Once it is, its awesome.
If you let off the gas between shifts, it wont engage properly and wont be as effective. It needs to be raced on a bit before its effective. This is a good thing for me, and keeps me sane on the streets, cuz that quaife make my lude a whole different beast!! I think you should get the Type S LSD, its cheaper, and more streetable. I wouldnt try installing it yourself unless you know what you are doing.

I thought the Type S only fit on the JDM tranny?

There's a link to an imagestation album with more pictures in there but I don't think the username/password of test/test works anymore.

I love my Quaife, and wouldn't recommend anything else.....install is not bad, you DEFINATELY need a Helms, and an impact gun to get the reverse-threaded bolts off the gear is really handy.....other than that, just keep track where everything goes and do it in a clean environment. I'd say that getting the tranny out and in is 2 times as bad as putting in the quaife, so wait till you're putting in a clutch and stuff as well

Type S doesn't come with an LSD, it comes with ATTS. You're referring to the LSD in the SiR S-Spec.

well, i will have the tranny out since i'm sending off the block and head. this is why i was thinking about doing it now. i would like to see steps on the install if anyone knows where to find it. i may be more than capable of doing it myself, but i won't know until i know the steps involved in the switchover. all your help is greatly appreciated.
