subframe bent
hey all. I slide into a curb last winter and my subframe on the passenger side got pushed back and in. The pass. side wheel is pushed back a little. I took it to an alignment shop and they said they couldn't do anything till the frame was fixed. I took it to my dudes body shop and they didnt say anything about using their frame rack but said the subframe would need to be replaced.
How hard is it to replace the subframe were talking about here? Is it worth doing it myself or would it be better to pay someone?
I've got a 88 hatch Dx parts car sitting here. Could I use the subframe off of it?

they are referring to the front or rear cross members.
the front cross member is located at the very front of your engine bay (at the bottom) and uses radius rods to hold the hubs at the proper angle. the front x-member also has the front engine mount bracket welded to it. it's possible that your front x-member was bent when you hit the curb and replacing this could fix your problem.
the rear x-member is in the back of the engine bay. your rear engine mount is bolted to it. this could have been damaged also.
both of these x-members make up your subframe so you should figure out which one they are talking about (or visually inspect them) and replace the faulty part(s).
