Having probs taking off tranny fill plug bolt - Blocked (B16A)
Anyone else have this problem. Reading in the forums, everyone seems to have a breeze taking this plug off. But when i went under the car my access (w/ a socket wrench) is blocked by i'm not sure what. I tried a wrench but I think i'm stripping it instead of turning it.
Any insights?

Gotta use a wrench. A 6-point wrench if youve got it.
I never had any problems getting mine off, but last time i stripped the *****.
Had to remove the speedo pickup and fill the tranny there, takes 2.8l
if i remember correctly.

Uh, mine's an outie, not an innie. Sounds like he has the same problem. It's like a 14mm or 17mm WRENCH you need. I used that with another larger wrench for more torque, and just strained the fark out of my shoulder trying to get it to turn.

I've never had a problem taking that bolt off. Just get a 17mm closed end wrench. Just make sure it's a little long or you will have to use another wrench to increase the torque. I bought mine from Autozone for like 10 bucks. It's a nice long piece that has 17mm on one end and 19mm on the other.
Ok I just fu*ked myself over now. Using a grip wrench I ended up stripping the bolt even more. I"m thinking about filling from the top seriously but how much tranny fluid does the S1 tranny take. I dont' wanan over fill nor do I wanna under fill?
Whoa man reading another forum there are all sorts of #'s

he said 2.8L which equals 2.96qts; that sounds like quite a bit

That is a lot. Not sure about the S1, but the Y1 takes 1.9L to fill. The tranny isn't supposed to be completely full... instead, you're supposed to fill it until it runs out the fill plug. If you've stripped it and have to fill from one of the bolts on the top of the case, you'll have to be careful to not put too much in.

which transmission do you have, b/c my J1 (i think...) it has a tube on the top where i can pull off a plug and pour in from there. I'm not sure, but I think so. I probably need to do this also.
