Default check engine light

How do you reset the check engine light in a 1997 honda accord lx? I found what the problem was and the honda place i took my car to wanted 60 bucks to reset it, even though i fixed the problem.

pull out the 7.5 amp Radio/Back up fuse from the underhood fusebox, and disconnect the negative battery cable for ~7min.

when you crank it back up, dont touch the accelerator for 5 min.

not really sure what you mean by hardcode or softcode, the code was a p1956 it meant that my gas cap wasn't on tight enough.

$60 to reset it? wtf? well, you can do it by either taking out the ecu fuse, or unplugging the battery. I usually wait about 5 min. before I put it back in to be sure, but you probably don't have to. That's it. After you reset it though, leave the car running and don't touch the throttle for about 5 min. so the ecu can recalibrate.
