Default wheel painting procedure

hey do any of you guys break the bead seal on the rims to get a good finish on the lips? i just thought of that if you let all the air out and push on the outside on the tire to break the bead you could get a nice finish.. then to get the seal back up just inflate i dunno just a thought.

It is very difficult to break a bead seal without a machine. You probably won't be able to do it by hand w/o damaging the wheel. Seating the bead is another issue. You have to inflate the tire up to about 50-60 psi, which is a VERY dangerous procedure, especially w/o a tire mounting machine.

Just lay the tire flat on the ground and stick index cards around the lip. That's what I did and the finish is fine.
