I would just about put money down that you will not get any help here. It would be really useless. While it can be done it is viewed my many people to be Ricey. I'm sure there are websites that will tell you how to do it (propane). This effect was done for a movie to simulate the big inch domestic motors in rails. With there radical cams with lots of over-lap they tend to leave a lot of un-burned fuel in the exhaust. As a result the hot exhaust ignites the fuel causing flame to "shoot out". Not only would this be pointless it's also illegal to use on the road.

search the internet. there are LOTS of kits out there for you. You will need to add propane or fuel of some sort to get it to work - OR remove your catalytic converter.

Man... this is the riciest post I have replied to in a serious manner. Geez.

Even when removing the cat there isnt enough gas to make a nice flame... the kits you see for sale let unburnt gas through... so you arent making any power when you push the button to make flames shot out.

At least that is what I have read.

Aight dude, if you've ever wired up a christmas tree light for a test light, you can do this. your biggest problem is finding a nozzle to spray the propane. Idealy would be a fuel injector... but I don't know how much power you'd need for that. But anyways, get an ignitor out of a gas grill, pry off the silly button, take out the battery, do some soldering to the battery terminals (on the ignitor fool...) and hook up a little switch that will mount on your dash somewhere. Here's where I'm stuck. I used a CO2 remote hose from a paintball gun to connect the propane bottle to whatever. The problem I have is getting the propane to spray at the same time the ignitor lights up. Injectors would freakin work, but I guess I just need to get off my lazy butt and bust out the volt/ohm. Cause like someone said earlier, you don't want excess propane in your exhaust pipes. It'll get hot and blow up, then your gas tank, then... ahhh; Screw it.

BTW, 12V may be a little too strong for that wee small ignitor. Its a dang big spark, and it'll work, but I don't know how long the thing will last. You may want to get a resistor for it. Also, safety before anything. That crap is dangerous.

On the site for the AEM EMS, they actually have an thread with an AEM tech explaining how to richen the air/fuel the correct way to make the exhaust flash... I was kinda surprised

You want those flames to shoot really far, heres how?

One five-gallon fire marshall-approved gas can, filled.

One small box of matches, strike anywhere perfered.

Douse car with entire can, make sure you get yourself too.
Strike match.

You should be the envy of all your ricer friends and family!

I had a theory a long time ago that if you just wired your distributor right, and stomped on the gas you could shoot flames out of the exhaust.
If you could wire a couple of the cylinders backwards, where when the injector sprays and the piston finishes it's compression stroke, there's not a spark, but when the exhaust stroke come's around and the valve's open to let everything out, it sparks and ingnites the whole thing on the way out.

I don't know if it would work, and your motor would obviously run like crap...
It's not very smart or anything... but then... you're trying to make flames shoot out the exhaust on a civic... so there ya go.

By the way, what color is your car... 'cause you know that you've gotta get the flame to match your paint job, right?
