Default What's the diffrence between a D16Z6 and a D15B ?

I have automatic DX engine in my eg hb,
and it's burning oil, so I'm swappign the engine, to either a vtec D16Z6 or a vtec D15B.

I was wondering if they make does with automatic trannys ? (either of them)

beleive me, if I had the money I would go for a tranny conversion and a b16b, but I don't. I jsut want my car to last me a while and have a lil more pep.

I believe the D16Z6 came from the 92-95 Si's. Its 1.6L while the D15B is 1.5L and is a japanese motor. You should be able to use your automatic tranny with both of these motors. Correct me if im wrong..

D16Z6 is an ex motor. you're right about the 1.6L though.

no si auto does not exist. all d series motors are the same, as in the way every thing mounts up to it (trany, head, motor mounts, ect.)

It also came in the 92-95 Si hatches as well. So its not only found in the EX's.

VTEC motors never came with auto trannies in the US until the sequential shift prelude came out, other than that, there were no auto trannied cars made. You could get a JDM ECU and that would fix your problem.

They did make an auto EX Civic in 92-95 and it did come with the D16Z6 SOHC Vtec engine. This I know for a fact.

Of not being able to use an auto tranny on a VTEC motor. You have to have a JDM ECU or it won't work. READ the post carefully please.

Get an auto P28 ECU and you should have no worries.
