Yup, this guys knows what he's talking about...
If you're looking at the motor from the front, the VTec solenoid is located just behind the valve cover on the distributor side...can't miss it...

Re: (twr176)
for the person who asked if he could use the d16zz solenoid on his d15b vtec: no, you can't. the jdm d15b vtec has the three stage vtec (for economy) and has 2 solenoids.

Yeah, but are both use the same solenoid, no?
I'm 99% sure the VTEC solenoid from a D16Z6 is interchangeable with the VTEC-E solenoid on the D15Z1 - and the 3 stage VTEC simply has both VTEC and VTEC-E...so does that mean it has two exactly identical solenoids?
I thought the JDM D15B used the same one as the Z6, though yeah, it's 3 stage VTEC changing things quite a bit. I'm curious about the solenoids though.

I thought you were a mod, syndacate? Most mods would just say "search", and guess what, 2 minutes later, i have this... https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2250009 which has a good pic if you scroll down, and also this (which was also posted on the same thread): http://causeforalarm.thecarthi....html

Re: (Syndacate)
Also, just think about what we're talkin about (after the thread was hi-jacked that is). The jdm d15b, which has "3 stage" vtec. It would obviously need two solenoids, and it would make NO sense for honda to cast a head to take 2 invidual, d16z6 style vtec solenoids.

Not so fast, while it is very true that there was a JDM D15B Vtec with 3 stage vtec and t solinoids, it was not the only D15B Vtec, there is also an OBD1 version very similar to D16Z6, its what i'm currently running in my '94 sedan. the head is the same as a 'Z6, the block is similar to a 'Z1 from a VX rods are 'Z6, crank is exclusive to the D15B Vtec (rod journals are the same size as 'Z6, main journals are the same size as D15B7), timing belt is the same as a 'Z1 103 teeth, water pump as well. so to answer your question if its the OBD1 version of the D15B Vtec you have then yes you can reuse your old vtec solinoid.

Got to it before me...as he stated, the 3-stage vtec d15b wasnt the only d15b. Think of it like the jdm B18c...there was not just one jdm b18c...there was two...type r and sir-g....
