clutch pedal went to the floor.. what happened?
The other day i was driving around like normal.. Pushing hard on the clutch due to the heavy duty pressure plate. I noticed a noise kinda like something was scraping a little, but the car drove fine while that was going on. I got home and parked the car to further inspect the problem.
When i got home, i pushed the clutch pedal a few time... and then the pedal travels to the floor with no pressure at all and i hear some kinda "thunk" noise, but i wasnt sure exactly where it came from. First thing i do is reach under the dash and check the pedal itself and where it connects to the cable.
The cable is pretty much brand new and the pedal assembly has been changed for a newer set as well. The clutch cable IS NOT broken. I can pull up on the clutch release lever by hand, and there is no resistance. help me out please.. whats the problem?

I would venture a guess that it is the spring that is connected to the fork that moves the throwout bearing in and out on the mainshaft has broken. You are going to need to remove the trans to get a good idea of what is wrong with it though.
yep, happened to e, but i was driving. Basicaly could be anything, i had just gotten my car, and needed it fas, so i took it to a shop. They said they had to replace basically everything, but when i got it back, it still is a weak clutch, i bet they didnt even replace the pressure plate.
dude this has happend to me......... all i had to do was tighten up the cable from the adjuster on the trans......... i had it tooo tight in the first place and it popped loose for some reason......... tightened it to normal and havent had a prob.......

your clutch release bearing spring could of also broke, that happend to me right before i was going to race this gt stang that was talking shia i was so pissed cause i had to have my friend come help me toe the car home, oh i killed that thing by like 6 cars a week later and laughed at him lol
Something similar happened to me once. I was driving and then I went to shift and I had no pedal pressure. I popped the hood and it looked like the clutch cable thing like loosened up, so I turned that "nut" to tighten it back down and it has been find ever since.

i am almost willing to bet it is the clutch release bearing spring the same thing happend to me its a cheap fix probably cost you about 5 bucks at most to get an LS spring from a trans at a junk yard
I had the same symptoms you described, i.e. After stopping the car and turning it off then back on, the clutch pedal sunk to the floor. The problem was that the adjusting nut had loosened like others have said.
Did the scratching sound resemble someone draggin a looseleaf notebook on asphalt? If so i would say that you lost the throwout bearing at some point... just cause that's what mine sounded like when it went kaput... that's all i got...
im 100% sure its not the clutch cable.. it IS something in the tranny. like others have said, its gotta do something with the release bearing. ill find out by today. im getting a new tranny for $100.
